Dhaka, Aug 6 (BDNEWS) President Iajuddin Ahmed too no longer falls behind in the race of current culture of nomenclature. The beleaguered president who is now recuperating from heart surgery and is yet to catch up his usual pace in running the affairs of the state has become a frontrunner in the hullabaloo of having one’s name enshrined forever.

About Tk 17 crore has been allocated for establishing a collegiate school to be named after the President.

Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved the fund for the project, which is likely to be completed by June 2007, on May 1 this year.

This was disclosed at a meeting of the parliamentary standing committee on the ministry of education on Sunday with committee chairman Shamsul Alam Prmanik in the chair.

The working paper presented at the meeting shows that ECNEC on January 2 this year approved the development project profile (DPP) on “Establishment of President Dr Iajuddin Ahmed School and College” in Munshiganj, the home district of the President, at a cost of Tk 16 crore 19 lac and 21 thousand.

Under this project an academic cum administrative building, one male hostel, one female hostel, one multi-purpose hall, a two-storied building for the principal and vice principal would be built, the facilities department said.

The proposed collegiate school would impart training on computer course, general electric course, general electronics, and automobile course. 1050 students will get training in the four subjects with better facilities. The facilities department had taken all possible measures to finish the project on schedule, department officials told the meeting.
