ACC sues Khoka

The Anti-corruption Commission has sued 13 persons including Dhaka mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka.

The case details say that the accused had caused financial losses to the Dhaka City Corporation by appointing undeserving candidates.

An assistant director of the corruption watchdog, Harun-ur-Rashid filed the case with Shahbagh Police Station on Tuesday evening.

The details say Mizanur Rahman, Sami Faisal, ASM Hasanuzzaman, Atahar Ali Khan and Saifullah were appointed as tax officers on Oct 18, 2006.

The details reveal that the accused had taken their oral exams and got back the results, received appointment letters and joined work on the same date.

Quite rationally the matter is not considered plausible.

The case alleges that the appointments were made through mock exams.

Oral exams of 199 candidates, 33 of whom had applied for the tax officer position, were held on that day. The results were published on the same day showing five persons selected.

Moreover, the city corporation secretary was shown approving and handing out the draft appointment letters to five persons who have been sued.
