Finance Minister AMA Muhith in parliament today said normalcy returned to the share market. In a written reply to Mohammad Shubid Ali Bhuiyan (Comilla-1) the Minister admitted that the index of Dhaka Stock Exchange on December 5 last year was abnormal.

Replying to another question of Sukumar Ranjan Ghosh (Munshiganj-1) Muhith said three new members have been appointed in Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) following recommendations of the inquiry committee that probed the recent turmoil in the share market. Two executive directors of SEC were removed and their files sent to the Anti-Corruption Commission. Chief Executive Officer of AB Investment was also removed.

He said the government is implementing some other suggestions of the inquiry committee to stabilize the situation in the share market.

“The government is sincere to maintain a good environment in the capital market,” he added.
